While change is rampant, there are few industries under more pressure and with more opportunity to capitalize on change than the energy industry.  First there was the carbon for energy crisis of “peak oil”. Forecasters anticipating the world quickly running out of it’s primary source of energy – an existential economic crisis. Now mankind’s very existence is at risk because of “climate change” attributed to GHG emissions due to our dependence on carbon for energy. The scale of this issue is profound, given that the economy and jobs, the environment and mankind, are interdependent on energy. The situation is emotionally charged.  The good news is that change is happening – the DECARBONIZATION of energy, but that message often gets lost in the emotionally charged debate on what to do and who to blame!

The KEI Network is hosting three webinars in December DECARBONIZATION – an Alberta perspective. The first -Thursday December 2nd, is to explore the breath and depth of the energy industry and the forces and sources of change that are rapidly shaping the industry.  The second – December 16th, will explore the various technologies and their anticipated impact in addressing climate change.  The final webinar, December 23rd will take into account what we’ve learned and formulate a pathway to energy and economic sustainability.

Save the dates. Invite your colleagues. This promises to be insightful if not controversial.
